Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The popular resale platform has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.

Social Media Response

Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.

The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.

Size Classification Modifications

Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Member Experiences

One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.

Required Changes

Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".

"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.

Platform Context

The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
